About

Keith Gordon originally hails from rural NJ, where he began a journey that led him to Annapolis and the US Naval Academy at the impetuous age of 17.  Art and photography have always been a true passion – if he hadn’t entered the service, Boston University was calling about a photojournalism scholarship.  Instead, Keith cut his teeth as a naval aviator, world traveler and amateur photographer.  After 25 years of faithful service he was honorably discharged on his 42nd birthday at the rank of Commander ... where his story began anew.

Just as two roads once diverged, the path now splits once again … and may even double back!  Keith is a local photographer, designer, and consultant.   His creative impulse continues with SkyLift Photography, a new endeavor feeding an old passion.

Unique design has always been a forte.  Keith created new concepts for the Navy throughout his career, often at the intersection of people and emerging technologies.  In fact, special aviation projects often brought him to Patuxent River Naval Air Station, which always felt like home.

And so, it begins … after 25 years since USNA graduation, 20 years as a naval pilot, 15 years in the cockpit, including 10 years of sea-duty, 5 selections to the Navy’s highest-level think-tank, 5 graduate degrees, and one MA in Design from MICA (the oldest art school in the US) … Keith’s finally returned home!

Just as great design is a mix of art and science, Keith is exploring light through digital photography and 2D media.  He now launches into the great wide open with camera and lens, in pursuit of compelling tales of travel and adventure!  He seeks positive wonder through naturally occurring light, colors, textures and contrasts.  Keith now finds himself on that gut-twisting edge once again – where art takes nerve, heart, and discipline – yet where the juice is worth the squeeze.  You know the place – where the startling power of a good story keeps you on the edge of your seat.  Hold on!

In his spare time, Keith can be seen with his family, friends, and dogs or with his mirrorless Olympus micro fourth-thirds camera ... or even pursuing a diversity of creative endeavors from fly-tying to travelling, and writing to guitar.
